Cover cords in summer too.
Cover electric extension cords, and other lines in yard, so no tripping and tangling on them.

Great idea
Here in Mississippi we occasionally have heavy frost at times and even ice and snow. Our home has a deck built around it which has several series of steps and a ramp. These fiber runners are a life saver. During the winter I keep these handy to put out on the steps when and if we need to use to get off the deck. In some cases I put out before the accumulation and just lift and shake off when we need to use the steps or ramp. 30 " is for the ramp and a great asset. For people in their 70's this is a must. I found these after much searching.

not worth the it
I bought this item thinking it would help me get on and off of my icy porch steps this winter but now that it's on my steps I see that it was a waste of money because I have the same problem as before icy porch steps

Great for slick sidewalks
In the DC area we get a lot of thaw and refreeze. If we get sleet or ice I roll out the carpets so we don't fall. If it snows I put them down after shoveling and when piles of snow melt & refreeze it provides traction on ice and black ice, which is hard to see. Liked the ones I bought so much I ordered 4 more for all my steps & sidewalks. Would also work for outdoor parking spots.

ice carpet
This is perfect for my use. I put it on a wheelchair ramp that could get slick. It gives a more solid feel to the feet. Very happy with it.

I have bought this product in the pass and I will continue .
I use the ice carpet on my stairs outside in the winter, and it makes it safe even when it snows.

Not what I expected
I have to think about this review. When there's snow on top of this ice carpet it lays down and stays in place. In between snows it gets rumpled and could pose a tripping hazard. This means I have to roll it up and wait for more snow. When it snows I have to clean off the stairs, lay the ice carpet back down, weight it down so it doesn't rumple and wait for it to snow to hold the carpet down. If it weren't so stiff and was able to lay flush against the stairs it would be great. Unfortunately it doesn't.

Very poor quality. Wouldn't lay flat.
It cost 10.00 to return it. I will no longer buy , if I have to pay for the return.

Sure Footing on Icy Days
Our painted wooden deck can become an ice hazard in winter and now that arthritis has severely limited my flexibility, I need to walk with confidence on icy mornings. The rest of the painted surface gets slippery, but the ice carpet gives sure footing and a real sense of safety. So glad to have found it in your catalog!

Works great and prevents falls
Mom & Dad love it! I bought this for my parents (in their 80's) for a few front steps out the front door. This is the second year of use. It works great. Maybe not pretty, but it works (I have used it too). A little care, and it lasts.

saves my back, won't destroy my walkway
This is my third purchase of these--they last a few yrs--if you are careful with them---and they ahve saved me some backbreaking slips and work! yup-just roll them out. they curl on the end-so flip them over.....when it starts to melt-move them to crunchier these things!

Don't buy this
It was falsely advertised and represented in what appeared to be a cartoon as described by the telephone sales representative that took the order. I still have not received a credit and it's been over 2 wks

Ice Carpet
The area by the door we use the most, never gets sun during the winter. So if it rains and turns to ice, it is difficult to walk that area. I have found the Ice Carpet to be a good answer. If taken care of the carpet can last several years before needing to be replaced

Completely and utterly satisfied.
So happy with this product. In Northern Ohio, we have lots of snow and ice. I am disabled, could not possibly leave my home without it. Hope to buy more next year.

Extra Wide Outdoor Carpet
This really worked great for my husband using a walker. Our neighbor liked the carpet as well and we all felt safe walking on it. I even ordered a second set so we have them for the front walk as well.

Last 2 feet are useless
Was rolled so tight, last 2 feet have permanent curve making them useless. Had to cut off so dog would not trip on it.

Salt saver
Bought again this year. These are very handy. I have icy stairs and they work to prevent slipping. I used a lot less salt because of these runners. Buy a few as they rip from adhering to the ice. A smart purchase. They are a natural way to create a safe surface to walk on when it is icy out. Unbelievable! Try them.

Great for Winter
The ice carpets are great when you need to get out and do not have time or can not dig out the snow. They are easy to lay out on top of the snow. They absorb heat from the sun and helps melt snow underneath. Only problem is that the snow has to have stopped falling. Otherwise snow settles on top of the carpet.

carpet for outside ramp or steps
hold yto put down flat -- does not help slippery ice
Nov 14, 2014
It is worthless, already ripped and torn and I just put it down. Slips and slides, very upset, would send it back but already cut it to fit steps.

Could have found better!
It is not the most attractive runner. Very thin and you will have to secure or wind will blow away. Sheads fibers. Hopefully it will work this winter. I am not so sure you will roll it up and use it again next year. Indoor/Outdoor carpet would have looked better, done the job and you could roll up and use again next season. Dogs nails have already snagged it and it only has been on for one week.

Recently Ordered
I have not tried these yet, ordered two to be sure I had enough to re4ach rear parking lot. I am a senior citizen who cannot afford to fall and break anything and hope they work as advertised.

Did not last.
Had to nail it to the steps to make it lay down. Fell apart after the 4th ice storm. Total waste of money.

life saver
Far from attractive or durable, but these ice carpets are a life saver to man and beast in snow and ice. I would not be without them for safety. I love them in spite of their drawbacks. They do bunch up under the feet if one is not careful, but that can be easily overcome with practice. They are not durable and break apart quite easily so those broken pieces make perfect "puddle pads" in the snow for my two little dogs to protect their sensitive little feet against snow and ice. I recommend them highly for safety but advise that they need to be replaced annually. Because they are inexpensive, replacing them frequently is not an issue. Thanks for carrying them in your catalog. I'd be lost without them particularly this winter of the Polar Vortex! I hope they are a product you plan to stock for years to come. ERS

Second order
Even though this product has some cons, I am ordering two more. The way my steps ice over is dangerous and I have to try to chip at it or apply and reapply chemical salts. And even then I have to worry; especially about anyone who has to make a delivery. I do like this mat and have used it for two or three winters. It rolls out easily. The only problem I have is getting it closer to the riser of the steps so that when you step down it doesn't stretch or tear. I use my broom to try to remedy this. It's cheap. Does the job. Lasts for more than one season.

None at this time.

Skeptic proved wrong!
I was a skeptic at first, but now I will not be without these ice carpets! The key is to unroll them before use so they can have time to lie flat. Once they are wet they lay better. This has been a life saver for my husband with back one can afford to fall on ice, snow or wet surfaces. They are good for dogs as well! I have laid them on stone steps, concrete sidewalk and wooden deck and steps. Once they are down and take the shape of the steps you will not slip! I recommend them to all who are fearful of going out.

Outstanding product
Easily stapled to our wooden/painted porch & steps. Does not lie flat, but that is cosmetic since it doesn't trip you, either. Wherever you put your foot, that is where the mat stays. Most secure surface I have ever found. Tested with snow and moderate ice - worked perfectly. Gave one to my neighbor who has a slippery, stained, wooden deck.

I would buy it again
I used it on our deck and it works great and easy to clean off
Dec 18, 2013
Use for a deck
I staple this to my outside deck - exterior surface to walk over to the driveway. Just sweep off snow and crush snow off it and no matter what you can always walk across it safely and down the stairs. I put strips of this on each step.

Ice carpets
We use this ice carpet on a slick wooden ramp. It's perfect for providing good traction. The carpet wears out after about 2 winter seasons but is an order of magnitude chaper than a trip to the ER for a broken bone. It's an indespensible product for us.

Need to provide non-slip area on wet concrete. The mat would not lay flat and layers came apart.

(8198-1) Ice Carpet
I use on 16 stairs and it works great. Have to replace every 2 years.

Love it!!!
These are great on my outside stairs. They used to be so slippery.
Jan 28, 2012
Not Great If You Shovel and Treat Steps
The material is relatively stiff and difficult to conform to steps which have already been shoveled and treated. If the intent is to use ONLY on untreated surfaces, that should be made much more clear. Perhaps snow and/or ice surfaces allow material to cling better. Initial impression is that the carpets are not terribly durable.

Works very well!
My nephew has cerebral palsy and I have arthritis, so we both have problems walking on dry land. On ice it's nearly impossible. Just throw out these runners, and we can walk like it was a dry day.
