Irrigation spikes drive water straight to the plant root. Spikes attach to most soft drink containers to create a slow-drip irrigation system that lets water reach deep into the soil. Promotes healthy plants and saves hours of watering the garden. Also an easy way to fertilize plants. Set of 6 plastic spikes.

"Irrigation Spikes work perfectly as described. Put spikes in water-filled bottles, water plants thoroughly, then put spiked bottles in potted plants for automatic watering." -Customer from Florida

Not what I expected
Well, why stand and fill these bottles and try and get them out the door to put them in my tomatoes when they be drained within 10 minutes, I might as well just stand out there and water with the hose. Wish they worked because it's such a good concept, especially for someone like my daughter who forgets to water. Had intentions of ordering some of these for her but.......

Tried them in several flower pots. Used up to 3 large soda bottles. Water was gone within a few hours. Doesn't work in arid climate. Don't waste your money. Concept is great, but doesn't work in Tucson. Tried in May, so in middle of summer here WILL DEFINITELY NOT WORK!

I rate this product 100% usable and effective.

Very handy
It's a very good idea. I think it takes some practice to get the right amount of moisture in the soil ahead of time before you put the spikes in. One time the water went through too fast; another time it didn't drain hardly at all. With our water restrictions in CA, I am planning to put them around some of our dwarf fruit trees to see if they help keep the leaves from curling. Will put liquid fertilizer in, too. Also, you can attach them to a glass soda bottle or ice tea bottle, as well. It worked for us.

Love this product
I use this with empty 3 liter soda bottles and let my plants take what they need.

Good idea, but doesn't work slowly
Empties water within an hour - no visible benefit over normal watering.

These work. I used them for a five day getaway and tested them the day before I left. The trick is to water plants thoroughly before applying the spikes and bottles. I was away in 95 degree heat and plants were on a hot sunlit balcony. When I returned all plants were alive and the bottles were empty. Yes. It's not the prettiest, so I wouldn't use them for everyday. P.S. All plants were flowering and some herbals.

I use them in my heated greenhouse. They are perfect.
They are great in my greenhouse especially for my many hanging plants. I don't have a conventional garden. My tomatos, peppers etc are in large planters. Even in this hot weather, with the use of two liter bottle, I can keep my plants moist all day.

They do not hold the water like they are supposed to.
nothing good about them

Cut down on your watering
Put it in the garden and it works great. The bottle does collapse, but nothing to worry about. Waters your plants in three different directions.

I will buy these again.
I lost the ones I had used for years. They work well in larger pots I use for my herbs.

Mixed results
I bought it mainly for a pot in front of the house that I sometimes forget to water (the rest of my plants are in back where the hose is). In some pots it seems to work and in others it's like a drip coffee maker and the water runs through in less than an hour.

Excellent product!!
We freeze the water in bottles, then put the tops on when we use them. We did this to water plants both inside and outside our home during trips. We found this to be a great way to water over a longer period of time at a slow pace to insure moist plants.

Trouble making it work
I'm glad we tried them out BEFORE we went on vacation, and not just assumed that it was going to work as expected!! We have had to try numerous ideas to try to make it work like it is supposed to: we plugged one of the holes in the spikes; we added an extra air hole in the 2L soda bottle so it would drain better; we first soaked the soil in the planter before adding the soaker spikes, etc. Good idea, needs tinkering to make it work right...

They help plants to not wilt so quickly.
The 2 liter bottles drain too quickly and do collapse. I appreciate the tips from others to cut out the bottom for easier refill, and to plug a drain hole or two. The 2 liter size does NOT tip over which I was expecting to be a problem. I like them and will try the suggested modifications.

No need to hire a plant sitter
There are times I am out of town for one to two weeks. I water my plants before I leave. Then I place one of the plant spikes on a water bottle and place in each houseplant. No need to have someone come in to my home and take care of the plants while I am gone.

Irrigation Spikes
The water didn't trickle out as long as I thought it would. It only lasted about 2 days, but I still like them. I loved the suggestions to stop up one hole, cut the bottom off of the bottle to easily add more water, use a smaller bottle for small pots. If you want small glass bottles, use Jones pop bottles. I've used a green 2 liter plastic bottle to blend in with the leaves, but I think I'll try a clear bottle instead.

Grow tomatoes grow
We ordered these after seeing how well they worked in my sister-in-law's garden. My husband loves them. He has really gotten the hang of them. Today he informed me that he only has to fill them once a day for each of the tomato plants, except the organic plant, it needs about one and one half bottles a day. What a great way to save on water! It goes where it's needed. We no longer waste water on everything, like weeds.

A worthwhile product
Great for keeping plants moist in arid climates. being able to use with various size bottles makes irrigation easily customized.

Irrigation spikes
I used this product in some containers of flowers on the patio and on some small shrubs in the yard. They are easy to use and work great. I think they will be very helpful in keeping my plants watered. I really like them. I cut the bottoms out so I don't have to remove them every time. Works great.

9741 Irrigation Spikes
I have used these spikes for watering my plants/vegetables in pots for the last 6 years. Sometimes use 3 to a container. Very good for deep root watering. Just fill and insert instead of standing and watering. Prefer to use 1.5 liter plastic soda containers since this particular size does not sound cracklely nor collapse as the larger will. The inserted area will fade to yellow over time Love them.

I Love These!
My husband and I travel frequently and have a lot of houseplants. I use these to keep my indoor plants watered while we are gone. I found that they fit on he top of 20 oz. soda bottles, too for smaller pants. They work best if the plants are thoroghly watered in the sink first and once they stop draining, then put the water bottles in. They do not last an entire week, but they keep them watered well enough where the plants won't die while you are gone. I ordered 24 of them!

Works Fine
I would put more watering holes in the stake.
May 21, 2012
these do great outside. I forget to water my outside plants most of the time. Attach the 2 liter bottle and watch the water go straight down to the root for your plant. Unfortunately, when I put mine in the ground, it only takes about 20 minutes for the water to totally drain out of it. Maybe it is the angle they go in at. Still use them. They are durable in the Texas sun.

nice idea, but !!
nice idea but water flows to fast. not good for long term watering, but good for my large plants that are hard to get to. possibly smaller holes would fix this.

The irrigation spikes are really helpful for taking care of plants in the Florida heat.

A Drip and a Drab
They work best with "thick" plastic bottles, like Spright. I also use one serving waterbottles. I am ready to order more!

Just what I was looking for!
Great for those who like to get away on weekends and short holidays and 'love' their plants!

Great plant feeding device!
These spikes are great for tomatoes and peppers in the garden. Attach to a 2L or 1L plastic bottle with the bottom inch cut off to form a funnel and nestle between your tender veggies, makes fertilizing easy and effective. I have purchased the same thing at a specialty gardening supplier and only the color is different. What a great deal.

I love this product, it works very well.
I like that water deliver to the roots from sides of tube, and tube will not be cloged from pushing down in the ground.

Great garden helper
Have used these before so I was happy to find them for some new plants I put in. Also with many plants direct watering or spraying creates leaf problems like fungus or mold so underground watering is great.

Self explanatory
release the water slowly

"Best thing since sliced bread"
Serves as a very useful tool, works well, and eases the mind, as to when to water. All my indoor plants are now covered, thanks for a great product.

Not enough water, try Me!
I use this product for all my house plants, use more in my big plants, so I can enjoy watching them grow, spend less time watering. There extremely easy to use, and less time to water. I take the labels off the bottles and use clear bottles, the bottles blend in with my plants so there not noticable.

I would buy this product over and over
I use this product in my flower bed and this year my flower have done the best.
