Description

Unlike regular coils, stovetop burner covers provide constant, even heat on a solid, easy to clean surface. Burner plates reduce boil overs and scorching. These heat plates retain heat longer so you can cook at lower temperatures while giving your stove a sleek, fresh look.

"I believe that they save electricity, because they stay hot after the heat reaches the right temperature. They also help to keep the stove clean. Last night, my wife remarked that they prevented some grated cheese from getting into the burners." -Customer from Kansas

stovetop burners plates
I love these burner covers, I have read the reviews, and I did use on high heat and one cover did turn white, in an area, but it faded out after time, do not use on high heat. on a range scale 0-10 heat I start on on 8 and then bring it down to 5, cook on 3 o 4, and it takes along time for them to cool off. At first they did have a funny smell, but it has burnt off now, my pans do not burn, even cooking and the look of the stove is great. For the money is worth it.

Disappointed
I bought these covers several years ago and they lasted a long time until a family member scrubbed them and the surface faded really bad. Then I bought another set a couple of years ago and they seemed domed up for some reason. So I just bought a new set a few weeks ago and the first time I used them the surface shine started to partially fade on a couple of them. I won't be buying them again because they are not economical. Too bad because they are more attractive than the stove cools.

HEAT PLATES
In the kitchen on electric range. They smelled really bad. Don't know what they made of but lots of the black has come off during cooking. After use they still have a smell, I wonder if it's harmful???

Don't bother buying
These were not cheap and are suitable for display only. Disappointed in quality and design.

never again
horrible, these are not cast iron and thus they do not work. they emit a horrible smell when heated and get burned on the underside where they come in contact with heating element. horrible...i wanted cast iron not painted mystery metal. God only knows what kind of chemicals i breathed in from these. Do not buy and if you did, don't bother using send them back asap

I will not buy more! Deceived about being cast iron!
To cover burners! Don't apply heat or it will burn off and flake!

Best Burner Cover I've Found
I really like these but they are better used as burner cover than a heat plate, as you run the risk of the heat getting too high and turning the plate white. It's a permanent white too. When I tried to scrub the white off, the plate started rusting. Rather than buy a new one, I got a high heat matte black spray paint and painted them. And they look great again and are preforming well as burner covers.

Love them
I read the reviews about these before I bought them and they were kind of even . So when I got them home and started using them they are really nice . With and electric stove it helps to even the heat all the way around the pan and I love that . I do turn the heat on high and let them heat for a minute if I'm in a hurry. But I do love them .

Durable, slightly domed, will rust
I've had one of these for 4 years. It works well enough for me to continue using it, AND buy more units (so ALL my pots to have better temp control). The two drawbacks are: the shape is such that it doesn't come into DIRECT contact with the range surface ("domed"); and, the iron material will develop a grainy layer of iron oxide (rust) which makes it messy to wash (so I DON'T). It takes a little while for the heat to transfer to the pan, but you'll take that into account after a bit of use.

Heres My Answers
Its not a good product its peeling and its not cast iron
Mar 18, 2016
I like it
It does what it says, it spreads the heat, the sparkly coating fades with use but the plate works just fine
Mar 16, 2016
WHY NOT VERY USEFUL
I found that first they work great on gas burners for wmipy stainless cookware,no burn spots!second they work well as heat transfer units for NUwave cooktops inductive heat, also due to the raised lip your slightly warped pans don't rock around while using them.Fine product!

Burner Cover
Makes the black range look much better with the coils covered.
Feb 26, 2016
Not worth the money
Turns grey on high heat and smokes to much.

Heat Plates does the trick
I was led to believe that these plates were cast iron. They are extremely flimsy. It took quite a lot of use and cleaning to get them to stop smoking and stinking.
Dec 30, 2015
Have too keep lower than med heat as will turn grey
Conduct heat well, turns gray when heated higher than med. Keep my stove clean with less mess from boil overs.
Dec 24, 2015
So Far So Good
I have only just started to use the heat plates and so far they are working fine. I had purchased 3 small & 1 large plate.
Dec 16, 2015
Cannot cook on them
I use it to cover my electric burners. They look nice but you cannot cook on them. The paint peels off

Heat plates for electric stove
Great for the stove.. helps keep a lot of mess from going down into the burner wells. Great for warming tortillas.

I would buy again and give as gift
Been looking for this product for a long time and glad Harriet Carter had it
Aug 17, 2015
Yes, they do what they say they will do. I love them.
They really even out the heat while cooking on the burners. They stay warm after burner is turned off.
Aug 11, 2015
Heat Plates
Plates cannot be used at HIGH temps otherwise to coating (Paint??) peels off. Having to take them off the burners when using high temps is defeating their purpose.
Jul 26, 2015
Love Them!
I purchased these mainly because I cannot stand the coils on my electric stove. These plates have out performed themselves. You don't need to use a lot of heat. I don't go past medium. When you first use them, there is a slight burn off. I washed them with a mild soap but still when I used them, there was a little smoke. This only happened on the initial use. No more problems. They hold heat very well and your food stays warm even after turning the stove off. Follow the instructions and you should not have any problems. Less heat is best.

works well for me
I cook two to three time a day and this product works well for me. I see other reviews that say the products discolors. Well I have had no problem a/c I treat them like my cast iron skillets. no dish washing liquid. I use a mixture of olive oil and kosher salt, rub in circular motion then rinse with warm water. They shine just like when I took them out of the package. Hope this helps

3517-1 Heat Plates 6"
The 8" burners have been a little better than the 6" burners. They work as far as distribution of heat, but the minute you use them the paint or outside material burns off and gray spottiness shows through. Have not used them really heavy yet so waiting to see how the 8" holds up. May have to discontinue use and return for a refund.

Burner heat plates
Not sure yet how durable as I do not cook much. Love the look of them on my stove!

Heat Plates
I love this product. It restored the stove to its new condition. No need to buy a new stove.
Mar 06, 2015
Disappointed
Not a true cast iron product. It is light metal & just dark colored. After 2 uses, little spots of metal showed through. Very disappointed & would not recommend this to anyone.
Jan 06, 2015
Liked it, serves its purpose well
It distributed the heat evenly, no hot spots.
Dec 19, 2014
Disappointing heat plates
Instructions don't state it, but you need to rinse off the heat plate before placing it on the stove. There is a coating that stuck to my pot. When I lifted the pot from the stove, the heat plate came with it, then fell off and melted the rug I had in front of my stove. Rug left a residue on the heat plate, so I ordered another one. This one discolored with extended use.
Nov 26, 2014
Peel after first use
They are painted and the paint began to flake after first usage. I expect the paint to flake off and fall down into the stove now ... would prefer them unpainted. I question whether or not they are cast iron. If they were cast iron, why do they need to be painted? Natural cast iron would have been AOK. Considering returning them.

Six inch Cast Iron Heat Plates
My new heat plate works super great and I am going to get the other burners on my electric store one..they cook the foods more even and are easy to use and clean....
May 21, 2014
Like it
Attractive and makes heat even. Discolors under high heat but I used stove polish to make it black again.
May 14, 2014
Good idea
These burner plates do spread the heat evenly.
Mar 29, 2014
I was very disapointed!!
I bought it to make my range top look nice, to up date it. It look really pretty when I first put them on. Then when I used them they turned white....especially the large ones.
Mar 26, 2014
I would buy this product again
The product is easy to install and use, but a little difficult to clean.
Mar 01, 2014
Loving the burner plates.
I was ready to buy a new stove. My electric burner coils had hot spots. These burner plates made my stove look new and cooking on them is awesome. Set temperature on high. Reduce to medium heat and you are good to go. After cooking I put a small amount of cooking oil on a paper towel and coat the outside of the burner plate to keep it looking good. This is done even with cast iron cookware Absolutely no complaints. Would recommend this to anyone.
Feb 25, 2014
heat plates
very disappointed as they turned gray after a few uses...don't look attractive anymore...wasted good money
Feb 06, 2014
Fire Hazard
Very poor quality, should not be used to cook on. The coating burned off & smelled terrible. They are supposed to help with heat diffusion, but I will not cook on them again. Good only for covering burners while not in use, remove when cooking.
Feb 06, 2014
pleased
I don't have to worry about burning them like burner covers. And it looks better then the coil.
Jan 29, 2014
Love the way these look
I really love the way these look. They are strong feeling. I use them to warm, but do not cook on them. Mostly use as covers.

Not what I wanted
Jan 21, 2014
good choice
I believe that they save electricity, in that they stay hot after the heat is to the right temperature. They also help to keep the stove clean. Last night, my wife remarked that they prevented some grated cheese from getting into the burners.
Jan 21, 2014
Pleasantly Surprised
Love them, although they aren't cast iron.
Jan 11, 2014
Misrepresented
It is not cast iron, but thin with a ridge around the outside that does not fit the burner.
Dec 24, 2013
positive
I am pleased with the product. It does help with cooking evenly. I have had the product for 3 weeks. I had bought a small one to try. I do plan on buying more. however,I do not cook much.
Dec 22, 2013
Heat Plates are not Cast Iron!
Advertised as cast iron but they are not and the coating peeled off with first use. Like the way they cover the burners but that is about it!!!
Dec 15, 2013
Surface burned off on first use.
The top coating came off on first use and left a gray color. I suggest that they be removed when using burner. Cleaning instructions should be included with purchase.
Nov 05, 2013
Satisfied
They are attractive, and after two weeks one is slightly discolored, but I still like the product. They hold the heat as advertised, and help heat evenly.
Oct 23, 2013
Doesn't work like catalog says
They looked nice upon arrival but not after using
Oct 08, 2013
DOESN'T HOLD UP
THE FIRST TIME I USED ONE OF THE LARGER ONES THE COATING CAME OFF.
Sep 24, 2013
"I would buy this product again and agai
I really like the covers but the paint did burn off one of them but they are still nice
Sep 09, 2013
look nice
I was very pleased how fast I received my order. After only using the plate once, the paint burned off and peeled. The other 3 No complaints, look. Nice and work good.

Great Heat holder
Love the product but black finish burned off the first time I used it and now it looks ugly.
Aug 31, 2013
Perfect for cosmetic use only
Here's the thing - I have an old GE electric stove with the coils. Stove/oven works great so no reason to replace it with a new flat top, so I use these to just make it look a LOT better. My stove is black, so the black burner covers are perfect. The old Nordic Ware ones are impossible to get now (according to them, they stopped making the 6" ones, which makes no sense as you need a pair of those along with a pair of 8", but I digress). I like these because they are a darker, shinier black so they look very nice. What I do now, however, is to remove one if I want to use the burner. That way they are staying pristine and I don't have to worry about them being ruined with use and at some point not being able to replace them. So, the moral of the story is that if you can be happy to use these ONLY for cosmetic purposes they look very nice and will last very well. If you want to actually cook on them you can expect that they will begin to get marred and faded pretty quickly.

Pleased with my purchase
I finally decided to give these a try. Glad I did! yes, the protective coating smoked a bit on first use and smelled but I've had no trouble since. I don't know if they're really cast iron, but I keep them clean and dry so I've had no problems with rust. I don't own super spiffy pots to begin with and most of them are NOT flat on the bottom anyway! My range is old and the coils tilt and are warped but these covers are weighty enough to hold them down flatter. Cooking performance isn't perfect, but it sure is better than before! I don't cook anything on a high heat so I've had no warping or peeling issues. Instructions say to lower the temp setting a bit after your pot has gotten hot and that has worked for me. Keeps food warm for a good long time too. I'd buy these again..
Jun 21, 2013
too overrated
The product is clearly not cast iron; it turns white after each use and is too time consuming to maintain an attractive appearance.
Jun 12, 2013
I would purchase this product again
cooking of food improved, my stove is cleaner and I don't use a lot of my time cleaning it
Jun 11, 2013
Not on High
Looks great and provides stability to range top, but blisters, smokes, and smells awful when heat turned to high. Not useful if I can't cook at high heat. Wish these really were cast iron. I would love them.

NOT CAST IRON
THIS IS ADVERTISED AS CAST IRON WHEN It is more like cast alumin. the first time use and all the black coating stucked to my pot I liked to never got it off. they would be better if they were cast iron.
May 20, 2013
Change color and warp
I had the plate on a burner turned up to "HI" and it dis-colored and warped. Don't use it any hotter than "MED-HI".
Apr 26, 2013
Love these!!!
These dress up my kitchen! They should be treated like a caste iron pan and oiled after each use! Don't know what took me so long to get these. Worth the price!
Apr 26, 2013
Poorly designed
I used this product for what it was desinged for. It took an excessively long time to heat up. They seemed domed so that the pots didn't sit properly. They tilted!
Apr 03, 2013
Bad Heat Plates
This items is very poorly engineered, it turned white in just a few weeks, I mean all of them.
Mar 04, 2013
I love, love, love my heat plates
I use calphalon cookware and the burner topper is definately a match. Pan surfaces sit flat. No discoloration, cleans easily and allows me to cook at lower temperatures, thus saving energy. I also use my mother-in-laws 50+ year old stainless steel heavy bottomed dutch oven and the evenly diffused heat transfer kept food from sticking as it had previously done. I would definately recommend it and will purchase again when needed.
Mar 02, 2013
keeping things clean
I like these because, food from your cookware runs on the stove, not under the burner. So cleaning is so much easier. I read a review from someone who said that they discolor and the top coating comes off. They all discolor but you can clean them. And the shine is suppose to come off, the same thing happens with cast iron cookware. I love this product. They perform like they are supposed too.
Mar 02, 2013
Heat plate finish no good
The first time I used the range the plate warped and the finish peeled. For the cost I would not recommend this product. However, it does disperse heat evenly.
Feb 04, 2013
Some design issues
I love vast iron it maintains an even heat, but they discolor easily. I am an eert in the care of cast iron and at first they were fine. The small one that I do not use a lot looks like it is in mint condition; I have had them for a year. The larger one is starting to peel around the edges with black flakes coming off. It has already rusted in the middle although I do not use soap, so not keep it wet, I thoroughly dry and season each one after use. I do like that it maintains an even heat and I can turn off the stove toward the end of cooking and the temperature of the food remains consistent. I do not like that the large one is starting to warp and slides around the burner when I move my pot or pan. I do not think I would buy again, you can buy a cast iron griddle and achieve the same effect without the risks of it sliding around and the obnoxious odor if it gets too hot.
Jan 21, 2013
Concrned for Safety, Aslo Discoloration
Other comments noted odor - here too continued odor as black color became white gray. Is carbon from cast-iron buring off? CO2 or even perhaps CO? Have removed from stove due to concern for safety of breathing fumes.
Jan 10, 2013
Happy with my new cast iron heat plates
I really love these burner plates. I have been using them daily for at least a month. The only problem I have is that I wish that I had bought them sooner!
Dec 26, 2012
So far, I am delighted with my purchase.
This product improved the appearance of my electric range.
Oct 11, 2012
Not good for canning apparently...
This plate is good for everyday quick cooking but when I used it for waterbath canning, not so much. I thought it would be good for keeping the water in the canner at an even temperature, which it did, but when I removed the canner from the heat, the plate had "warped" or "bowed" in the center. I can no longer use it because pans will not sit properly on it. Guess I'll be returning it, which is a real shame. Would recommend only for short-term use (less than 30 minutes?) or only on medium-to-low heat.
Sep 16, 2012
Great Product I'm Buying More
I purchased one as a test and am pleasantly surprised. I can now cook evenly and it looks far better than coils. There was initial smoke. I am assuming from some sort of protective coating on the plate. Make sure you have the fan on for first use and allow the coating to burn off. That's what I did and have had no issues since.
Sep 06, 2012
Good Product
Great, except discolrstion very quickly. the product works great with stainless-steelpans and my new T-Fal pans. Would have given 5 stars except for dis-coloration issue. do love the fact that don't cook above medium setting and can turn off completely and will still retain heat.( for about 20-30 mins)
Sep 03, 2012
Undecided...
I bought one of each size of these covers, and used the larger one first with no problem. When I used the smaller one, within a few seconds of being on "High" (which my range requires), the center of it started to smoke...a LOT! Even after I quickly turned off the heat, it kept smoking until I used a pair of tongs to remove it from the burner. I don't know why this happened. The burner was clean, the cover was clean because I had never used it; the only thing I can think of, is, that I was using a Revereware pan and maybe there was a tiny bit of residue left from the copper cleaner I used on it (I couldn't see any but who knows). As I said, it's the only thing I can think of until I try using the burner cover again, maybe with a different pan this time. I'll post my results. P.S. Any suggestions for using on stoves that have to first start out on the "High" setting in order to bring up the heat faster?
Aug 29, 2012
GOOD DEAL!
I'M HAPPY WITH THE BURNER PLATE BUT I THINK IT WOULD BE BENIFICIAL IF THE PLATE HAD A LITTLE ROUGHER FINISH SO POTS AND PANS WOULDN'T SLIDE AROUND AS EASILY. COULD SAVE SOMEONE FROM GETTING HURT MAYBE.
Aug 20, 2012
Very pleased with these heat plates
They work great on the stove and look nice too. I got two large and two small and i needede three small but im keepinp them any way. Very happy with this purchase.
Jul 13, 2012
Looks beeter then the heating element
It'a the best what came along, just love it.
Apr 29, 2012
Great idea ans product!
Quick delivery and easy set up.
Apr 04, 2012
Heat Plate
I ordered the large one, it does fit but it is a tight fit. I ordered for my Dad. His stove eye was uneven. This helped to even it out. Food cooks even, pan now sits straigh which was the goal!
Mar 31, 2012
Very nice
Looks nice and was easy to install. Have had no smoke or smell problem as my stove was clean before installing. Like all cast iron it must be seasoned and wipe with a little veg oil returns the shine.
Mar 21, 2012
Love this product
I have an electric range and this heat plate gives even heat . It cuts down cooking time. Love it.
Jan 01, 2012
Like a lot
The information should include that these should not be used on high temps. If you use them repeatedly on high they will warp and your pots will wobble. I love them at med. or lower
Dec 31, 2011
not as advertized
these covers give off a smell and fumes that burn the eyes and the nasal passages, even after 4 uses. Being made in [*], they have no safety requirements they could be quite harmful.
Dec 11, 2011
BETTER COOKING
Using on my electric stove I get more controled heat at a lower temp.
Nov 21, 2011
Works well on electric stoves.
I bought these for my electric stove burners. They look more attractive than the burner coils. They distribute heat more evenly so there is less chance of scorching. On first use I wanted to boil some eggs in a small pot on the 6" plate. When I turned the heat on high, the coating on the plate began to burn off causing a noxious smoke. Part of the burner plate got red hot and that part of the plate is now discolored. But, the benefits outweigh the problems so I plan to buy two more when they go on sale again.
Nov 17, 2011
Heat Plates
when heated, alot of odor and unpleasant. When heated on high, cover became pale grey in color and has not returned to original dark. Other than that, they were pleasant to look at, but didn't live up to the hype which described them or the cost.
Oct 24, 2011
I like this product
I use this product on my stove
Oct 22, 2011
a great kitchen tool
I've been using this product since it arrived this early this week. i find it to be remarkably energy efficient. it allows me to keep food warmer at lower settings than before. i also find it useful at warming boles & plates. of course it is cast iron so i keep it free of moisture, (i expect that it would rust as any cast iron would). i am very satisfied! i will by more for myself & for gifts.
Aug 26, 2011
An improvement, but could be better.
I have an old cook top and used covers to hide flaws which had to be removed when in use. These are much more convenient and improve heat distribution, however after only a few uses the finish seemed to burn off and leave a very dull finish.
Aug 22, 2011
I absolutely Love these burner plates!
I've been looking for these for some time to cover the standard electric burners on my stove...these are EXACTLY what I needed. They are heavy duty cast iron, so yes, they discolor from the heat; however, they give a solid even cooking temperature on every dish I've cooked since I purchased them, and THAT is what I was concerned with, NOT the look (although they are rather cute) If you cook as much as I do and need consistant even heat? You need these plates over those electric burners! You won't regret it! Easy to clean, even consistent cooking temps, and perfection in the pan EVERY time.
Aug 18, 2011
I intend to buy 3 of the 6" size
I will buy more and have recommended it eo my friends.
Aug 18, 2011
Electric burner heating plates
You'll want these covers for all of the burners.
Jul 27, 2011
Good, but changes color after use.
to cover heat surfaces
Apr 01, 2011
heat plates
When i first saw these burners i was soo excited this is something that iv been wanting. I was so tired of the way my old burners looked. they even made my pots more leveled. After each time i cook with them i would clean them with cooking oil which made them look good again, but after about the 4th or 5th time cooking they lost the black coloring, they look pretty bad, i do still use them to help with leveling but when company comes i have to put burner covers over them.
Mar 15, 2011
Great Product
When you first put on stove allow the fumes o burn off. This product will save burning the pots. It provides even heat through cooking creating less heat to be used and saves time when cleaning the stove.
Feb 28, 2011
The greatest
It gives an even heat with no hot spots on my skillets. No more some burnt and some just lightly brown.
Feb 20, 2011
Did not last long
bought these so I would not have to keep removing burner covers every time I wanted to cook. I have had these for 6months now and they look like I have had them for years. Not worth the price in my book.
Feb 07, 2011
I LOVE these things!
I Love these things. I had a set and somehow lost them (my kids probably) and been looking all over for another set. They are not for boiling, they are for keeping food warm or heating slowly so nothing burns to the bottom of the pan or scorches. I hate heating creamed soups on the stove without these burner covers. These are a must have for me.
Nov 07, 2010
An exccellent product!
[...] And then we were so pleased with the product! My husband didn't think they would work, but he was pleasantly surprised to find they were excellent!
Sep 29, 2010
Pretty but.....
Do not use to boil water in a Dutch Oven pan for spaghetti. The cover warped and turned silver around the edges. When I tried to clean it black stuff came off on the cloth. I haven't had any other problems other than this one.
